Our kids have always been pretty good at playing independently, but quarantine (and homeschooling, of course) has given us more time to learn how to seriously just kick a$$ at it. And I love seeing them find new interest in activities after learning something new in our lessons, or after traveling (interest in geography grew exponentially after our trip to Maine).

My kids have loved this puzzle for a long time. True, the states in the middle of the puzzle do not always lock together, so it is a practice in coordination and just generally being aware of their surroundings to not knock everything out of place before you’ve placed most of the pieces. BUT. That’s actually part of the beauty of it. I think we’ve had this puzzle for a year and a half, and today was the first time they decided to work on this on their own, with zero help, and practiced all their patience in the couple of the times the pieces did move about. I’ve linked to the puzzle below (paid link).
“MA is this Maine?” “MA I found San Francisco!” “MA which mountains are these?”
We’re building on top of this, too. Check out that globe.
